Here is an extract from the IPL Rules with respect to the focuses allotment. Run 21.x has been cited, you can discover the various principles of the IPL here.

League Table

The class rivalry table for the League might be incorporated by IPL, the positions in which should be dictated by the quantity of focuses picked up with focuses being recompensed as takes after:

  • 2 points for each match won;
  • 1 point for every group partaking in any match with no outcome and any match which is tied (where it was impractical to finish a Super Over toward the end of play or where the Super Over itself is tied);
  • 1 point for each group for any match including such group which does not initiate for any reason (other than where the explanation behind such non-beginning is a break of the Operational Rules by one Franchisee which brings about such Franchisee relinquishing such match);
  • 0 points for any match lost or forfeited.
  • The group with the most noteworthy number of focuses might be at the highest point of the table and the group with the least should be at the base.
Where groups have an equivalent number of focuses their relative positions should be dictated by the accompanying:

  • The team with the most wins in matches in the League during the season will be placed in the higher position.
  • On the off chance that there are groups with equivalent focuses and equivalent wins amid the season, then in such case the group with the higher net run rate will be put in the higher position
  • In the event that taking after the net run rate figuring above there are groups which are still equivalent, then the group with the higher number of wickets taken per balls knocked down some pins in the matches played that season in which results were accomplished will be set in the higher position
  • In the event that still equivalent toward the end of the standard season then the group position will be dictated by drawing parts.
References to "matches" above shall not include the play-off matches.

Play-off matches

If any of the Final, the Eliminator, Qualifier 1 or Qualifier 2 matches are tied, or there is no result, the following shall apply:
  • The pertinent groups might contend in a Super Over to figure out which group is the champ of the match being referred to;
  • On the off chance that conditions don't allow a Super Over inside of the time accessible to decide the champ or if the Super Over is tied, then the group which, toward the end of the significant normal Season, completed in the higher position in the League table (as per section 21.9 above) will be considered the victor of the important play-off match.
